Note for:   William Valentine MALIVOIRE,   14 Feb 1882 -          Index

Occupation:   Comedian
Note:   Lived at Hollington Road at the time of his birth. Willian took his mother's maiden name Collinson as his stage name. With his partner Alfie Dean (Alfred Corfiled) they made formidable comedy duo in the English theatre. They met in 1925 and were so successful in a sketch which Collinson wrote for entertaining wounded soldiers that they were together thereafter. Collinson wrote all the broadcast material. In earlier times he had toured Australia, America and Europe as a sketch artiste. Dean joined a juvenile troupe when he was 13. Both were well known pantomime artistes. In 1938 they appeared as themselves in a movie called 'On Velvet'. Source of info IMDb.
